This is the FAQ for The Alternative. It will answer everything you need to know about The Alternative.
Q. Why is this place called The Alternative?
A. I called this place The Alternative because it means THE Alternative. We are an alternative Pokemon community but we are THE alternative, standing out among the rest.
Q. What is the general purpose of the board?
A. Gamefaqs' fixed moderation system usually means I get moderated pretty easily due to some of them being pretty biased. This place allows me to freely speak my mind. But the main reason I created this board is because I've always wanted to create a RBY community. We are a RBY community, that's our main purpose.
Q. I got banned and I didn't even post! What gives?!
A. I don't see why you would make an account and not post. Due to the brunt of the accounts here being trolls from Smogon I have a tendency to ban people who don't make a post. If I banned you and you think you were innocent, make another account and post. Quite a few accounts have never been banned despite not posting.
Q. How can I gain status here?
A. Contributing to the forum and posting a lot will definitely most likely get you some stars here. But I'd just like you to know that getting power here is pretty useless as I can handle all of the moderating on my own and have been for the near 11 months this board has existed.
Q. How can I contribute?
A. Tournaments are always nice. I love innovative RBY tournaments. Please post any ideas for RBY you have. Contributing with RBY discussion is also nice.
Q. Why don't you spif up this place?
A. I don't care for the appearence of my forum. I can post, make tournaments, post RBY things, good enough for me. That's all I really need.
Q. How come you don't expand The Alternative by covering other generations of play?
A. Just about every other community out there has advance mode covered and I don't even GSC. I've seen just about every known community and none of them had broad RBY coverage in my opinion. I always felt I could cover RBY the best. I also prefer RBY over any other generation and don't have a passion to cover advance and currently don't have to passion to try GSC.
