Hello there sir,
I heard that you once completed a DQV LLG. I'm trying one myself and I can't beat the Magmen. Any tips?

Good evening,
Perhaps you stumbled upon this topic (http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/942423-dragon-quest-v-hand-of-the-heavenly-bride/56774358). That topic will tell you everything you need to know about clearing a DQV LLG. Now, as for the Magmen.....
"A major problem of the battle is that Hero was only faster than them by 2 points (they have 21 agility), so I was only going first about half the time. It's imperative that Hero be able to go first just about every turn, so I came up with a solution that reeks of ingenuity: I headed back to Fortuna and used the attribute panel in the TnT game to raise my agility. However, this was very tedious and took me a couple of hours; still, the +3 in agility was well worth the time spent. Also, I did get a +1 boost in resilience, though this was rather useless.
Now faster than the Magmen by 5 points, I was going first almost every turn. Nonetheless, I was having a terrible time. Initially, my strategy was to have Saber use the Zizzwizz pillow while Abel used a Paxa Punch, but I eventually came to the realization that, similar to the Dowager, an aggressive strategy works best. I would have Abel and Saber attack and pray to god that at least Abel would score a critical hit (around 200 damage). If I could pull this off, I would likely be able to kill one of them efficiently, propelling my chances of success.
After many resets, I finally managed to kill one of the Magmen thanks to a critical hit. But, I still wasn't out of the woods: two Magmen were easily capable of sending me back to Mostroferrato. This is where I needed the Zizzwizz pillow to work; it failed a couple of times before finally working, giving me the security needed to have Abel use a Paxa punch on himself. It takes 4 attacks after the effects of Oomph to kill a Magman, so you can imagine that Yggdrasil leaves were incredibly useful for the remainder of the battle. Abel and Saber both died numerous times, and once it came down to whether or not Abel would be quick enough to administer a leaf to Saber. Luckily he was, and I pulled through in what was a fiendishly difficult battle that took many, many retries. Hero grew to level 9; Saber stayed the same."
