The regular season of the 2007 RBY League has finally concluded and we have reached the DCS's! I figure the DCS's deserve seperate so here is the background of the two battlers in the NDCS!
Kampfer: Kampfer won the North Division, this is easily Kampfers greatest performance in a tournament so far. Kampfer started out on a good note in the RBY League, winning his first two battlers. He then lost to Shippou in a nailbiter, Kampfer didn't battle Slayer due to Slayers inactivity and got a DQ win over Cygnus due to Cygnus' inactivity. Kampfer lost his final week battle against Kirby, but because he had great participation overall, won the division. He was tied with Billtog but Kampfer got the division win as his activeness in this tournament has been far superior to Billtogs.
Now Kampfer is just two wins away from making the Undisputed Championship Series of the 2007 RBY League! Can Kampfer pull it off?
Billtog: If you had told me Billtog would be in the NDCS during the majority of this tournament, I would have asked what you were smoking. Billtog lost to Kampfer in the first week and vanished afterwards, until the third round where he beat Kirby in a huge game. Because of the other battlers inconsistencies, Billtog found himself right there with a chance to still make it. Billtog was the lucky one to be paired against Cygnus, and right from the minute I knew Billtog was going to get the DQ win. Billtog ended the regular season with 9 points in a tie with Kampfer, Billtog lost out on 1st place due to Kampfer being much active and deserving of first.
It looked like Billtog would have second place, but I decided to have him and Shippou have a best of three, 2nd place showdown to determine 2nd place. Billtog stepped up to the plate and won the series 2-1, so Billtog has earned his spot in this. Billtog was actually in last years RBY League when he entered as a sub. So he's one of the two battlers from last year who are still in this years. Because of the stipulation I added, Billtog again has another obstacle to climb as he must beat Kampfer three times to win the NDCS and advance into the Undisputed Championship Series, if Billtog could pull this off I can easily say it would be Billtogs biggest accomplishment at his tenure here at THE Alternative.
Good luck to both you guys, winner of this best of 5 series wins the North Division and goes on to play the winner of the SDCS in the Undisputed Championship Series! So Kampfer, think of this as a title defense.
Also, I added a stipulation. I figured it would be fair for division winners to have an advantage, so the division winner only has to beat his opponent twice, the 2nd place guy has to beat his opponent three times.
Game 1: Kampfer 3-0
Game 2: Kampfer 4-0
Winner of the NDCS: Kampfer!
