With the creation of BttP I felt like I should make this topic.
I handle the creation of most of the tournaments here. However, it doesn't mean that I'm the only one allowed to create a tournament. Any other member can create a tournament as long as it meets the following criteria:
-It isn't the same exact thing as a tournament done before in recent memory, the only exceptions being THE Alternatives yearly tournaments such as TOS and the RBY League which are handled by me and Slayer. However, if you wish to do a tournament that's already been done, it has to be after a significant period of time. If you want to do a UU tournament and we already had one, you must wait at least 4 months after the conclusion of that UU tournament to make one.
-You can not make a tournament when I intend to hold a major tournament after the current one going or when a major tournament is about to happen. Example, if we're having a regular tournament and you decide to make one right after it while I had plans to host a major tournament, I will lock your topic if it contains an interesting idea or delete it altogether if it doesn't even look appealing to begin with or is repetitive. I will always announce when major tournaments are scheduled in the general board.
-You must always remember to include a deadline in each round of the tournament except for the finals. If you don't, I will have to make one. For the finals, a deadline isn't initially included but if it begins to stagnate it's your responsibility to include one or else I'll have to do it.
-When you set your deadline, you must remember it. For example, if you say "ok deadline is next week guys" and you aren't there to move the topic on for the entire day, the next day I will make the next round topic and pairings.
With these in mind we can all keep THE Alternatives tournaments smooth and more enjoyable.
