We are now in round two of the IRBYT 2! The first round saw a tremendous amount of excitement in the final day of round one as Jimmy Kudo would come out of nowhere and battle, winning the three seed. Team USA features two battlers from THE Alternative and two from PLDH:
Team USA
1. GGFan
2. Cladenstine
3. Jimmy Kudo
4. MikkelDemey
GGFan: I am the number one seed and am currently undefeated, I was in the last IRBYT and made team USA last year as well, but suffered a 1-0 loss at the hands of Buster in round two. I would like to go all the way this year.
Cladenstine: Cladenstine is a rookie RBYer, he has made a name for himself in ShoddyBattle beating people's OU teams with his UU teams but he has had only a handful of RBY battles, but partly due to me "taking him under my wing" so to speak, Cladenstine managed to not only make team USA but is the number two seed in the tournament. Will Cladenstines potential transform into true glory here?
Jimmy Kudo: Jimmy Kudo didn't have a single battle until the very last day with only a few hours remaining before the deadline. Beforehand, HcM had won a very close battle against MikkelDemey and it looked like it would be HcM and Slayer advancing but then Jimmy Kudo came out of nowhere and won his battles by large margains; two of them being 5-0s. Kudo is a capable RBYer, having reached the semi finals of TOS6 and is no stranger to pressure matches. While Kudo had more points than Cladenstine, he is the third seed for having one less battle and signing off when me and Clad were ready to battle him but he's in which is what matters most.
MikkelDemey: MikkelDemey is actually a resident of Ghent, Belgium but he has every right to represent team USA as he has earned his spot. Mikkel quietly went into the tournament and had a very solid record, finishing 6-2, however he didn't have a lot of points and thus he's the fourth seed. While he also did have more battles than Clad, one of them was against nza sama who was hardly on at all and Jimmy Kudo signed off before me and Clad had a chance to battle him. Mikkel is a man on a mission, out to surprise everyone even further.
And the opposing team:
Team Europe
1. Picollo
2. Majin
3. peter pan
4. Jirachi268
Lets get into more detail about them:
Picollo: Picollo like myself has had international experience, making a name for himself in Smogon. Picollo is also a very good RBYer, he did not finish as the first seed by pure chance. However, it's a little ironic that he's the number one seed as I originally had him as a sub but decided to extend the amount of entries per team. Can Picollo teach me a lesson and win this tournament and attempt to get revenge on me for the Stream Cup?
Majin: Majin is arguably the best battler in Europe, it's hard to find a tournament in the German circuit where you won't see Majin in the end. Majin is capable in all gens and I have had many wars with him, but I have a reputation of haxing him. I have always told Majin that eventually he'd be due to get some payback and maybe this is the time. Majin is just as good at RBY as Picollo so don't be fooled by his number two status. Majin is the number two seed due to having the same amount of points as pp but having another battle.
peter pan: peter pan is another battler that made a name for himself in Smogon, proving that some of the truly good battlers don't simply dwell in one place and claim they're the best. peter pan is probably known for his GSC ability more than his RBY ability, but he is a very proficient RBYer and I have faced him in the finals of an RBY tournament and a GSC tournament as well. While he is the number three seed, he is another battler that you better not judge by his seed, he can easily go all the way. peter pan is also the only battler besides myself that represented their respective country last year. Also, ironically enough, pp also got 1-0d in the second round by HcM who would go on to help lead team USA to victory. pp is looking to lead Europe to victory this year.
Jirachi268: A very versatile battler, Jirachi proved he can go at it in any gen, I remember him well from when I faced him in the finals of the multigen team tournament. While Jirachi may not have the prolific status that his team members may have, underestimating him could lead to a harsh loss. Jirachi knows what he's doing in RBY and didn't squeak by, he more than earned his spot here.
