Butterfree
Type/s: Bug/Flying
HP: 323
Attack: 188
Defense: 198
Speed: 238
Special: 258
Weaknesses: Fire (2x), Ice (2x), Electric (2x), Poison (2x), Rock (4x)
Resistances: Fighting (0.25), Ground (Immune)
Double powder
~Psychic
~Sleep Powder
~Stun Spore
~Mega Drain/Supersonic/Mimic
Despite a horrible typing and terrible movepool, Butterfree is a worthy choice for a NU team thanks to the fact that it can double powder. Its speed is decent enough so that it correlates with its one and only purpose: putting something to sleep and paralyzing the incoming Pokemon. Butterfree is ideally used when it's sent in on something that it can outspeed, because it's incredibly frail and missing with Sleep Powder is pretty devastating for it. At least by going first it'll get two shots at doing something useful.
On the physical side of things, Butterfree's best move is Psychic. Backed by an OK special stat and good type coverage will enable Butterfree to hit for a bit of damage on most Pokemon. Unfortunately it doesn't get anything else decent to go along with Psychic; the only other attack that might do something is Mega Drain. Supersonic can be used instead to inflict parafusion, though its accuracy is terrible and Butterfree can't take more than 1 hit from almost everything in the game so beware. Mimic is another option because Butterfree's movepool is so putrid.
Other options: No.
