While most people know that Pokemonexperte is the Pokemon community based in Germany and Austria that we competed against in the revolutionary IRBYT, some of you don't know that before then, I was a regular battler there and still am today. I've won two forum tournaments there before and two server tournaments, so when I entered this RBY UU tournament of theirs winning my 5th tournament there seemed very enticing.
Round 1: The groupings
Pokemonexperte run their tournaments differently, the beginning round/s usually consist of all the battlers getting put into groups and the best *insert number here* battlers of each group advance into another group round or the elimination rounds. Round 2 would begin the elimination rounds, though this tournament was double elimination. The group I was in consisted of me, peter pan, DevilKid, Maijin, Jirachi268 and Pokemonwelt. The top 4 from each group would advance. Here's a rundown of the battles I did.
Battle 1: vs peter pan
This was a really close battle that could have gone either way, very reminisicent to our war in the finals of the last RBY tournament I won there. I won this one 2-0 when his Golduck got fully paralyzed after my first Weezing Thunderbolt, allowing me to Thunderbolt it again, Weezing dying and me switching to my Golduck to finish off his with Surf and preventing an Amnesia freezewar.
Battle 2: vs Maijin Tupac Z
Maijin Tupac Z probably isn't that well known in other regions, but in Pokemonexperte he's one of the most recognized battlers there. This battle pretty much came down to whoevers Golduck got the freeze. His Golduck froze mine and I lost this one 40. My Golduck even had Ice Beam while his had Blizzard but that's the way the dice rolls sometimes.
Battle 3: vs Pokemonwelt
I needed to recover after my loss to Maijin. I won this 4-0 with some hax but I probably would have won anyway. No hax would have just made this one closer. My Pokemon overall were probably just better choices, nothing really special about this battle.
Battle 4: vs Jirachi268
Ah yes, Jirachi268. I remember him well from the multigen tournament finals. Here I was looking to repeat the magic from that tournament, much to my dismay this came down to whoevers Golduck got the freeze again. Luckily I was the one who got the freeze this time and won 4-0.
DevilKid was away the whole time and was promptly DQd, which left me, peter pan, Maijin, Pokemonwelt and Jirachi. Jirachi had the worst record between us, so he was also eliminated. I finisheed 2nd best in the group, however I had the same 3-1 record as peter pan but peter pan finished 1st because he had better results.
Round 2: Deciding the Winners bracket and losers bracket
9 or so of the 28 participants were eliminated after round 1, so the remaining 20 advanced to the elimination rounds. This would decide who would get into the WB and LB. I was paired against a guy named GSC Fan who honestly I didn't think knew what he was doing all that much. In addition to being double elimination, the battles were best 2 out of 3.
Battles 1, 2, and 3: vs GSC Fan
The first battle I won cleanly 3-0 but then things really looked bad for me going into the second battle. In this battle I was luckfucked so badly, I couldn't fathom it. I would definitely rank that as one of my most frustrating battles ever. This would force a decisive third battle in which he AGAIN was luckfucking me but I managed to come back in what was truly a nailbiter. When my Machamp was out against his paralyzed Electabuzz, I thought he'd switch to Fearow so I Body Slammed, he didn't switch but got fully paralyzed anyway. In the end there was a bit of comedy when his Arcanine woke up first turn against Weezing. It used Reflect the turn I exploded but I CHd, winning 1-0. I would have won anyway since Golduck was my benched Pokemon and it was at perfect health.
These victories got me into the WB for round 3, so I was off to a good start here.
Round 3: Winners Bracket battle
In the winners bracket, I knew with my experience and skill in RBY I could definitely win this tournament. But I still had a long way to go, if I won this battle I and the other winners would receive a bye in round 4 so I really saw this as an imperative set of battles, since if I could win this I'd have a damn good chance of winning.
Battles 1, 2 and 3 vs fac3l3ss
I was up against fac3l3ss, who didn't exactly have the best movesets in this particular mode of play but recently he's had my number so I wanted some payback. The first battle I won pretty easily 5-0, but the second battle had me on the receiving end on some really bad CHs, especially a CH SELFDESTRUCT (Told you his sets weren't exactly top notch) that pretty much cost me the game and I lost 1-0. So again, it came down to a decisive third battle that I won 3-0 when my Venomoth sweeped his weakened team.
Hell yeah, now I'm really BALLIN'!
Round 4: The bye
Nothing like advancing and watching the other competitors struggling to stay alive.
Round 5: The rematch of rematches
Round 5 saw me get pitted against Maijin. I would easily say that in my near one year stint at PE, Maijins been my toughest opponent. Every one of my battles with him just seems like they're a bunch of eternal struggles. I wanted to pay Maijin back here for round one and probably some other battles as well.
Battles 1 and 2: vs Maijin Tupac Z
Our first battle once again came down to whoevers Golduck got the freeze. He wasn't having much luck, and neither was I. I think he was really beginning to run low on Blizzards, so he attempted to PP waste me with Rest. As a response to this tactic, I would only Ice Beam him the turn his Golduck woke up and finally got the freeze when I was down to just three Ice Beams and swept his team. In our second battle he really put on a hell of a performance and nearly came back against me really haxing him to hell but I won 2-0.
With this win, I was two victories away from getting a bye to the finals.
Round 6: A must win
If I won this, I would get a bye to the finals so I really wanted to win this one. I knew it wouldn't be an easy task, as I was up against pkmn, better known here as cune. Cune is one of PEs best all around battles and I've had a couple of really good RBY battles with him before.
Battles 1 and 2: vs cune
The first battle I won 3-0 in which there was hax from both sides, him with a paraslam on my Machamp, Sleep Powder missing, a CH Psychic on my Venomoth, me with his Tangela missing Sleep Powder and a CH Earthquake on his Golduck from my Blastoise that pretty much won me the game. In the second battle, I haxed him, I mean my 4% paralyzed Wigglytuff did about 70% to his Omastar from using Body Slam. I also froze his Golduck with a Blastoise Blizzard.
But those two wins got me into the finals!
Round 7: The second bye
At this point the tournament was down to the fantastic 5 as I like to call it. Me, cune, Windie, Picollo and The Unknown. Windie beat cune, so in the finals I'd be facing somebody I haven't faced in this tournament. I wanted The Unknown to beat Picollo since I thought it'd be pretty cool if I faced him in the finals since my debut battle in Pokemonexperte back when I was Herr Unschlagbarr was against him, so it'd be like coming back full circle in a way. But Picollo won in two 1-0 wins so yeah, so much for that.
Round 8: Determining my final round opponent
It came down to me, Picollo and Windie. I'd either be facing somebody I've never played before (Windie) or somebody who I played twice in a RSE200 tournament (Picollo), losing each time. Thinking now I guess it might have been fitting if Picollo won this since I would have had a chance to have been able to pay him back for that with 2 wins of my own, but Windie won in two games.
The Final Round: Vacation?
It finally came down to me and Windie. The tournament started back in Februrary 20th, it was March 30th now. I was pumped for this battle but it turned out Windie went on vacation, bad timing there. Leanny, the organizer of the tournament, decided that I should get the win since Picollo pointed out Windie would be gone for an undetermined amount of time. I didn't feel bad at all, after all why should I feel bad when I won?
All that's left to say is.......
WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS MYYYYY FRRRRIIIEEEENNNDDDD!
AND WE'LL KEEP ON FIGHTING TTOOOO TTHHEEE EENNNDDDDDDD!
WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!

Of the world
Hope you enjoyed reading this tournament experience of mine as much as I enjoyed being in it. Thanks to the following people:
peter pan: For getting knocked out early so I didn't have the possibility of playing you again.
Leanny: For creating and organizing this awesome tournament the way a tournament organizer should.
Pokemonexperte: For creating Pokemonexperte and giving me yet another alternative as well as my own, also basically giving me the chance to battle in Europe. If not for you, I probably would have never discovered Pallettown either, which is the Netherlands community I battle in.
I strongly encourage battlers to try and hone their skills internationally, because I could never imagine somebody claiming they're the best and their only claim to fame is battling in one community.
