The tournament of the year celebrates the best overall tournament THE Alternative has had. The nominees are.....
The '06 RBY League: The '06 RBY League was an idea Slayer posted on NBs crappy forum, I saw the idea for this topic and told him to post it in a place where it would be more appreciated and helped get him an appropriate amount of people to play. Thus, the RBY League was born. 8 people, 4 in each division. The top 2 from each division advanced the best of five Championship Series of their respective division and the 2 winners of those met in the best of seven Undisputed Championship Series. I won the tournament, going 3-1 in the four week regular season, beating Slayer 3 games to 0 in the East Championship Series and beating aDORKable 4 games to 2 in the Undisputed Championship Series.
TOS5: The prestigous TOS tournament continued it's legacy on THE Alternative, TOS is the biggest RBY tournament ever and how fitting the 5th installment continued on THE Alternative. 16 people, 1 winner. The participation was amazing, only one battle wasn't completed. I won the tournament, beating Makoscientist 4-0 in round one, beating MoP 6-0 in round two, beating Slayer 1-0 in the semi finals and beating M3k 3-0 in the final round in what was overall a very competitive tournament.
The Alternaversary: The Alternaversary was the tournament that celebrated one year of THE Alternative. It had many factors, who would win it? Myself, the creator of this place, would SamG finally win the big one, would Haste make his sudden return to tournament play a successful one, would M3ks decision to come out of retirement pay off? The last story was the one that came true, as M3k managed to win The Alternaversary. M3k beat Slayer by DQ in round one, beat me 1-0 in a very controversial battle in the semi finals and beat SamG 4-0 in the finals, again with controversey. Controversey or not, it's the result that counts and M3k came out on top on what was a great tournament as only one battle wasn't completed.
The TTS: The TTS was the longest running tournament in THE Alternatives history. It was short for TagTeamSeason. Teams of 2 would compete against each other and a point system determined which 2 teams would advance to the best of five Championship Series. It was a tournament that saw dominance and arguably the biggest upset in THE Alternatives history as Cygnus and Billtog would rally back and snag second place from rekt and Yellow. Myself and SamG won the tournament, with 41/42 points in the 6 week regular season and beating Cygnus and Billtog, who had 19/42 points in the Championship Series, 3 games to 1. It's certainly one of THE Alternatives most successful tournament.
The IRBYT: Though it isn't finished yet, the IRBYT has been a revolutionary tournament. It's the first tournament where an American Pokemon community has directly competed against a European Pokemon community. 8 people in each division, 16 in total. Round one saw the two divisions facing off against their own battlers, the four battlers with the best records would advance into round two where THE Alternative and Pokemonexperte would collide. The IRBYT has seen dominance, where SamG went 7-0-7 in round one. The IRBYT has also seen two major upsets as HcM who went 1-6-7 in round one, managed to make the team and eliminate one of Pokemonexpertes best battlers, peter pan when he beat him 1-0. Pokemonexperte than had an upset of their own as Buster managed to beat me 1-0 in what was more controversial than HcMs win, but a win nonetheless. Will SamG be able to really put his dominace to work and beat Jakira, or will HcM have to pull off the miracle for THE Alternative to be the victors?
