The 2007 ROTY, meaning the best battler here in his rookie year. Lets take a look at the candidates.
Kampfer
Kampfer debuted in THE Alternative at the end of 2006. He participated in the IRBYT and went 2-3-5, nearly making the team. It was between him and HcM, and I gave the 4th spot to HcM despite him only winning 1 battle out of 7 because I felt that he had been more reliable and active than Kampfer.
However, Kampfer would go on to prove himself as a capable battler later on. He made his first finals of a tournament, when he reached the finals of Christmas Chaos. Though he lost to rekt, Kampfer would continue to hone his skills and managed to reach the finals of the 2007 RBY League, winning the North Division and sweeping Billtog in the NDCS.
Kampfer would not go to win the RBY League, as he lost to me 6 games to 3 in the UCS, but he put up a great fight and all of those games were incredibly close. In one of the most memorable moments of the finals, he came back from a 3 games to 0 deficit and managed to tie the series 3-3, beating me 1-0 in each game.
Kampfer would continue his success however, when he again the reached the finals of another tournament, the UU tournament. He lost in the finals to me again in what was another close game. In Kampfer's final blaze of glory, he reached the finals of his 4th tournament, LPT, and lost to me 2 games to 0, establishing himself as the Buffalo Bills of THE Alternative.
After his loss in LPT, Kampfer would participate in the prestigous TOS6 but would no show and would shortly fall off the face of the Earth, never to be seen again.
Cladenstine
Cladenstine came to THE Alternative in the middle of 2007, as a battler with very limited experience. Clad would go on to make a name for himself as one of the more prominent D/P battlers, but he still needed to make a name for himself in THE Alternative. Clad did just that when he participated in the 2007 IRBYT, and despite his limited experience, managed to make the team. In the second round, he went up against one of the best battlers in Europe, Majin, and managed to bring the best of 3 series to a 3rd game.
Clad would continue his momentum from the IRBYT when he reached the semi finals of Moving Forward, losing to me in a very close game. A key element for Clad is that his rookie year is one where he has less experience than Kampfer, will that be a factor?
