Mewtwo
Type: Psychic
Base stats:
HP: 106
att: 110
def: 90
sp.att: 154
sp.def: 90
speed: 130
Ability: Pressure
-doubles the opponent's usage of PP
Set 1: special sweeping whore
Mewtwo@leftovers
modest nature
EVs: 38HP/252 sp.att/220 speed
- ice beam
- thunderbolt/thunder/psychic
- recover/flamethrower
- calm mind
Mewtwo's standard set. Mewtwo has godly special attack, and he can raise it even further with calm mind. Ice beam for rayquaza and groudon, thunderbolt/thunder for Kyogre and for paralysis, or psychic for stab. Recover is useful for annoying the opponent, and it will be a hassle once mewtwo gets calm mind set up. Flamethrower deals nicely with metagross.
Set 2: Taunt
Mewtwo@leftovers/lum berry
hasty nature
EVs: 44HP/246 sp.att/220 speed
- ice beam/thunderbolt/psychic
- taunt
- recover
- calm mind
Taunt mewtwo set. Prevents lugia from whirlwinding you and stops wobbuffet in its tracks. The move choices at the top is for you to decide, but I would go for ice beam due to most ubers being weak to ice and such. Psychic for stab, and thunderbolt for kyogre appearing on the field.
Set 3: Physical
Mewtwo@leftovers
lonely or naughty nature
EVs: 38HP/252 att/220 speed
- bulk up
- shadow ball
- earthquake
- ice beam
Another good set. Shadow ball combined with a bulk up tears up lugia and the Lati@s, and does bad damage to metagross on the switch as well. Earthquake for power, and 2HKOs Kyogre with a bulk up. It also works really well for owning blisseys and friends. No need to worry about groudon and rayquaza because ice beam can stop them in their tracks.
Set 4: Substitute set
Mewtwo@leftovers
modest or timid nature
EVs: 204 HP/86 sp.att/220 speed
-substitute
-calm mind
-ice beam/thunderbolt/flamethrower
-recover
Yay for the substitute set. This really wrecks havoc if it is set up right. Substitute, hope your opponent doesn't attack you, then calm mind up. Recover when you're out of energy because of using substitutes. Again, ice beam for Lati@s, groudon, rayquaza and friends. Thunderbolt for Kyogre, and flamethrower makes gross look like a fool.
Set 5: Triton's JAA set
mewtwo@petaya berry
modest nature
EVs: 6HP/252 sp.att/252 speed
- ice beam/blizzard
- endure
- calm mind
- psychic/selfdestruct
The set known for the infamous OHKO on a groudon during a battle between Julian and Justin during JAA last year. While groudon may survive an ice beam, it certainly will not survive a blizzard, in any shape or form. Calm mind to raise your sp.att as high as you can, then endure to activate petaya berry. It works great for enduring selfdestructs and explosions as well. Selfdestruct on the opponent's face when you are done, and pray that the opponent doesn't switch onto a metagross.
Other moves: focus punch, HP dark, brick break
Opinion: Mewtwo virtually has a huge movepool, and it makes good use of them. An above-average attack and godly sp.att, pls the capability to wipe out entire teams make this pokemon a threat to be concerned about. Non-fire oriented sets should be wary of metagross though.
